September 23, 2011 - Recently, the China Film Association, China Film Corporation, and Beijing's San Heng Yi Shu Film co-produced the film [First President 第一大總統], and the theme song, called <Admiring Love 仰慕的愛情|yang mu de ai qing> is fresh out of the oven. The theme song is written and composed by Anson Hu, and performed by Anson Hu and the female lead of movie, Nie Mei 聶玫.

The film, [First President] as a tribute to the 100th anniversary of Revolution in China, not only invited Wang Ji, Liu Jing, Zhang Qiu and various powerful actors, but also invited Qiuxin Zhi, Han Geng, and Zhang Junning young actors to help out. In addition to the all-star team and the expected outline of the revolution, the movie includes a "love" aspect in the film, which talks about the main revolutionary leader, Sun Yat-sen and a love story that will turn and twist with the main story plot. As a continuation of the movie, the theme song <Admiring Love> is performed in a duet form, and it illustrates the love story between Sun Yat-sen and Soong Ching-ling, which evolved from admirers to life-long partners.

According to the lyricist, Wang Ping Jiu 王平久, of <Admiring Love>, what we are about see is the second version of the lyrics. The initial version of the song theme was about love; however, after the discussion with the director, he wrote a version that was more accurately suited to the admiring type of love. I think admiring love more accurately expresses Sun Yat-Sen and Soong Ching-ling's course of love, and closer to the soul of the movie." Actually, Wang Ping Jiu also said that <Admiring Love> has 3 different layers: one layer is Sun Yat-sen and Soong Ching-ling's love story; the second layer refers to the one's admiration for Sun Yat-Sen, and people's love for him; and the third layer is a broad sense of a social phenomenon, where men and women start from admiration and then evolve to a life-long companionship.

Can you spot Anson??? ;)
It is worth mentioning that Anson Hu not only composed and sang the theme song of the movie [First President], but he also played the role as Sun Yat-Sen's secretary, Lin Zhi-mian. Since it was his first contact with a huge historical film, he was very excited about his first performance. It is understood that the director had invited him to play a role because he had completed studies in New York in film directing. Since he had seen America's film production, he was especially curious about the production in China, so he had gladly accepted the invitation. From acting to composing, and then to singing <Admiring Love>, Anson Hu thinks it is very extraordinary. "When the director had left me to arrange for the music, I wanted to make sure that I will do the song well, and it was very helpful for me to be a part of the movie. It now appears that the orchestral interpretation, harmony and other elements work well together, and I am very satisfied with the song."

Mei Nie, the female lead singer, is offering her first vocals for the movie theme song. This song is filled with a heavy sense of history, and for those born after 80s would find it a bit more challenging. "In my first time of recording, I had an optimistic attitude, so in the end, I felt that I had no depth in my voice. Finally, the second time, I had to adjust myself to a nostalgic and sad mood.

In such a demanding creation, it is bound to add some color to the film [First President]. Director Wang Cai-tao believes that the theme song and the movie soundtrack fit the film really well, and the authors and producers have not discussed about this, which makes him very surprised and delighted. "In the song <Admiring Love>, the parts sang by Anson Hu represent Sun Yat-sen's objective perspective: the expression of generating great love to the nation in the film. In addition, the parts sang by Mei Nei represent Soong Ching-ling's great admiration for Sun Yat-sen and her wish to stay with him for the rest of her life. After the death of Sun Yat-sen, Soong Ching-ling continues the renewals of his revolutionary will, and continues her love and admiration for him."
