The entire video is like an interview styled show, with Anson doing some compositions on the spot. I will highlight the special sections of video, otherwise I will just translate what Anson says.
Highlights of the Video:
@ 0:41 Anson sings the chrous of <My Future is Not a Dream 我的未来不是夢>
Anson Hu introduces his new album.
Anson: "My new album <Who Cares?> has 2 meanings. First, I want to ask the music industry, who still cares about quality music? The other, is "Who" = "Hu" which means me, and I still care, so it's "Hu Care." This album's first single <LIFE> is my first song to attempt rap, and in the lyrics, I have written about my road and feelings of 10 years. I want to feel how it's like: what if I'm not a singer, and if i'm not here, want else can i do? Teenagers always want to figure out what their bottom line is, and so I wanted to figure out what my bottom line is. "
Anson's friend eliminated from competition, and inspired his own competition.
Anson: "This is what happened: I have written a song for my friend, so he can compete in a singing contest with it. He actually got eliminated from the very beginning. He felt that there was a problem with the song, so I was like, okay then. When there was a chance for me to compete, I took that song to competition. In my heart, I felt that, it's not possible for there to be a problem with the song. Finally, I actually received an award for the competition.
@ 6:26 Anson composes on the spot!
How it works: Audience each wrote 1 line of lyrics. The hosts picked 11 lines and put it together in a paragraph for Anson. (Seriously! The lyrics are SO random, I was laughing at the weirded out lyrics!)
Composition 1 (Lyrics):
If I didn't meet you;
Where would I be?
Brother you ran to the West entrance;
Sister, it's too hard for me to stay;
Two bees that flew into a bunch of flowers;
Then, I realized that I love you;
Water buffalo, water buffalo;
First comes the horn, then comes the head;
Oh yeah, oh yeah;
Pig, your nose has two nostrils;
Hei hei, ha ha, hei hei
Composition 2 (Lyrics scrambled from Composition 1 + Anson added few lines of his own):
Hei hei, ha ha, hei hei;
Pig, your nose has two nostrils;
Oh yeah, oh yeah;
Water buffalo, water buffalo;
First comes the horn, then comes the head;
Then, I realized that I love you;
Two bees that flew into a bunch of flowers;
Brother you ran to the West entrance;
Sister, it's too hard for me to stay;
If I didn't meet you;
Where would I be?
I would be here;
Here waiting for you;
If I didn't meet you;
Where would my future be?
I would be here waiting for you;
Be here waiting for you.
Anson's dilemma with his teacher and the contract.
Anson: "Signing a contract is a good thing. It is because of my entry into a competition, that is how I met a teacher Fung Hai-Ning 馮海寧. His is someone who is involved in my turning point in life. He is my talent scout. He was the one that noticed me during my competition, and had taken me and signed me up with a record company. Eventually, there was a conflict with him and the record company's boss, maybe because of the different values in music. He is also someone who is very persistent in maintaining quality music. Finally, he decided to leave the company. At that point, I felt very difficult. Did I want to stay with the record company, or should I leave with him? The problem is, under the law of the contract, I have to stay. Also at that given time, I was under 18 years old, and I needed a guardian to sign the contract. If I didn't leave with him, it seems like I'm not loyal to him. He was my scout, he was the one who found me and brought me here. I was under a big dilemma.
Host: Did you have problems with the company after your teacher left?
Anson: From the time my teacher left until when I first released my first album, I felt that there was an empty space. I didn't have someone who looked after me.
Anson's submitted his compositions during "empty space" period.
Anson: My company didn't know I can compose, and to write songs. During that period, I took my own compositions, with bravery, and give it to them. After they listened to my songs, during that same night, they gave me a call. They told me that they're going to edit the songs, then it would be ready for an album! I only gave them 2 songs, so then I dug up all my "stored" work, and give it to my company. It was pretty quick, not even 1 year, and they released my album. <Monk 和尚> was one of the songs that I submitted.
@ 13:35 Anson sings few lines of <Monk 和尚>
Hehe, Anson forgot the rest of the lyrics!
@ 15:06 Anson sings <Pretty Women 紅顏>
Hmm, he started his key a little on the high side.
Anson talks about voice training: he learned Beijing opera style.
Anson: My voice training teacher taught me some special techniques in which he invented. The Beijing opera's singing style, produces sound from "in the back." When you sing it like this, when you hear the voice, it sounds very realistic, and the voice is really strong.
The male host attempts to learn Anson's technique by lifting holding his chair! LOL
Anson demonstrates @ 17:07.
He talks about a special stage performance.
Anson: I remember there was a huge mall, it was very large. There was at least 10 thousand people; however, how big was the stage? The stage was very tiny, it was only a quarter of this current stage. The speakers were about three times the size of my head, and that's it. Since I started out, I didn't really think so much about the stage. When I actually started singing, the voice didn't reach very far, so I was close to screaming my voice out. Finally, I understood why the stage was so small. It was better for people to surround me in front. They were screaming and were able to get close to me, but the people in the back, I didn't understand them at all! I don't think they can even hear me!
@ 20:34 Anson sings David Tao's <Love is Simple 愛很簡單>
Anson doesn't remember the lyrics, and he messed it all up!
@ 22:55 Anson attempts to sing an R&B cover to the songs the hosts suggested
By the way, Anson doesn't know any of the songs that the hosts mentioned. You can see his hilarious facial expressions!!!! He eventually gave up, and added his own lyrics! Haha
@ 22:21 Anson sings <Scar 傷痕> !
He actually doesn't sing the song live here. @ Joanne - He does love performing this song!
Guitar is Anson's important instrument.
Anson: At first, when I was at school playing in a band, my family was opposed to it. (They show a picture of Anson when he was 4 years old playing piano). I was always with the friends who were in the band. My parents were worried because I would always talk back to them. I felt that I didn't do anything wrong. Why couldn't I be with them? So my dad actually look the guitar and slammed it against me. I used my arm and leg to block it and the neck of the guitar broke. (They show a picture of Anson and his family). Finally when I was 16, my dad took a chance and spoke with me before my 16th birthday, and it was before my singing competition. He said: "Today you will become an adult. From today on, I wouldn't hit you anymore." He actually noticed that I really love music, so he really did change. From then on, he had several occupations, but he actually quit his jobs and decided to become a father, as an occupation. He did give me a guitar as gift. It left a strong impression on me because it was the most expensive guitar that I had ever owned.
Anson speaks about the sudden death of his father.
Anson: About 7 years ago, my dad suddenly left this world. During that time, it was before the song <Pretty Women 紅顏>. I was out of area, and I was doing a mini-live concert. I was actually on stage performing, then my agent told me I had an urgent phone call. My mom told me that my is on his way to the hospital because he accumulated blood in his brain. I was performing in a university and I apologized to my audience because it was an urgent matter. When I went back to Shanghai hospital, my dad was already in the critical emergency room, and it wasn't long, it took 3 days, and he left us. I remember the last few words that I spoke with him, he was asking me about the song that I sang with Elva because it was popular in Taiwan.
Anson regrets to have called his dad uncle, wish that people would embrace their loved ones.
Anson: My dad's occupation was a seamen, so he would return every once a year. When he comes home, I would accidentally call him "uncle." Actually, after I have reached 16 years old, my dad was like my best friend, and we were in really good terms. I felt that it all went by too quickly. I started to earn money and so I wanted repay my dad; however, I realized that it was too late, and it's too painful. During that time, I would always tell my friends to embrace their family members because if you lose the chance, it will be very painful. Right after that my dad left, I wanted to compose a song, so I can release my feelings onto it; however, when I stared at my piano I would always cry, and I wouldn't be able continue with it.
@ 35:47 Anson sings <Father 父親>
He performs this extremely well, it almost seems like he's about to cry, he has all the feelings there. I almost cried listening to him.
He shares his regret about his mother.
Anson: It is almost like a regret because due to work, I always have to fly. My mom is at Shanghai, and my company is in Beijing, so it's hard to stay by her side.
Host: Maybe you should change the format, maybe you should get a girlfriend, and raise a kid that can be by her side!
Anson: Actually, what you say is actually right; however, to look for a girlfriend actually isn't that easy. My mom is always asking me about it. I would always tell that her, "Soon!"
@ 39:32 Anson ends off the show by singing <一萬光年>

The water buffalo part is funny XD
How could he forget monk! Although it has been 10 years
@Denise: He does like Scar - Must be like his 10th time singing it
Do you realise when he is not singing live he tends to jiggle/move a lot more? XD
T___T I didn't realise he has such as sad childhood you van tell he had tears in his eyes
So much emotion when he sang father
It would be easy for you to find a girlfriend Anson!
@ Toilet: Yup, I love his compositions for sure! The lyrics are pretty random, I was laughing a lot when I read them!
Anson probably didn't practice Monk, that's probably why he forgot the lyrics.
OH YES! I totally agree with what you mean with jiggle/move a lot! It almost seems like it's not natural! :)
Yeah...Anson does have quite teenage story. I actually didn't learn too much about him until now. It's probably because he was afraid to release his past.
Strangely enough I'm surprise I still remember how Monk goes
although I if I sang it at a karaoke I would have just made up the lyrics XD
Hmm maybe he was afraid, or maybe it hurts him to remember his old memories. Ah I'm glad I watched this! Thanks for the translations! ^^
@ Toilet: wasn't monk one of those very first songs that you listened to? xD I wouldn't be surprised if you can make up the lyrics better than he can hehehe
